The Coalition Government has placed public health high up the agenda, with new duties proposed for both central and local Government to pro-actively promote public health. An implication of this new agenda is that local transport authorities will face the challenge of integrating public health considerations into their transport functions. This presents an opportunity for transport authorities, transport operators and local communities to work together to come up with cost effective transport options with low health and environmental impacts.
This event will provide an essential update on this cutting edge area of work, providing delegates with a comprehensive view on the direct impacts of transport on our health, the evolving policy context, and examples of work in progress to address the issues. We plan to give delegates the opportunity to explore cost effective options for mitigating health and environmental impacts.
Topics will include:
- The impact of transport on our health and the environment;
- The EU and UK policy background; and
- Case studies of innovation in reducing the health and environmental impacts of transport.
Venue: Rutherford Theatre at The Institute of Physics, 76 Portland Place, London, W1B 1NT.
Delegate fee: non-members £220.00
