The Greater London Authority has stated that London’s prosperity depends on maintaining excellent connectivity by air with other World Cities. London needs a world-class hub airport if it is to compete and prosper in a rapidly changing international business environment – but Heathrow cannot grow to the size needed to compete as a world-class hub. The Deputy Chairman of Transport for London (TfL), Daniel Moylan has stated that any scoping study for Government’s new aviation policy must include the option of new hub airport to serve London and the South-East.
