Although air quality problems affect both urban and rural environments, the specific issues encountered can be very different. This meeting of the Dispersion Model Users’ Group from Environmental Protection UK will examine the specific needs of both environments in more detail.

The morning will be devoted to rural areas looking in particular at the impacts of air quality on ecosystems, and developments in assessment techniques. The morning session also will bring together speakers who were responsible for preparation of the Environment Agency guidance on the modelling of air pollutants in rural areas, and those with recent experience of rural issues and how they can be addressed within air quality studies.

In the second half of the meeting, Environmental Protection UK speakers will be brought in to examine developing aspects of urban air quality assessment, looking at advances in air quality modelling performance, new tools for assessments and issues regarding the attainment of air quality objectives in the future. Discussion will form a core part of the event, giving attendees the opportunity to put questions to the expert speakers, raise issues and discuss key topic with peers.
