Thanet Council has received a formal application from Infratil, the owners of Manston (Kent’s International Airport), for the increased operation of night flights at the airport. The plans were formally submitted to the Council on 28 September 2010 with proposals for the airport to adapt the Noise Quota system featured at other airports and increase aircraft movements during this period.
This application follows on from one submitted to the Council in August 2009. However, with this newest application the operator has additionally submitted an aircraft night noise assessment detailing the implications of the proposal.
Thanet Council will now seek an independent assessment of this application and provide advice to the public on the impact of the night flying proposals. A public consultation will be carried out for a minimum of 12 weeks with the starting date to be announced by the Council shortly.
