Change of aircraft route creates noise for 2,000 East Grinstead homes
Complaints about aircraft noise in the west of East Grinstead have soared by 500 per cent.  About 2,000 households in the Imberhorne area are believed to be suffering from disturbance as an increasing number of planes from Gatwick travel overhead.  ​Residents have slammed the “diabolical” situation, which is due to a major airline, believed to be easyJet, changing the route of their aeroplanes.

London City’s Chief Executive Declan Collier told Airport World that London City Airport could help free up capacity at Heathrow by taking on some of its short haul and regional traffic.

Bosses at Manchester Airport have submitted an outline planning application for a new logistics hub, forming part of the £650m Airport City project that is expected to create over 1,800 jobs.  Local residents from Hale and Altrincham have launched an online petition, called ‘Save Sunbank from Manchester Airport’s expansion plans’, which has already been signed by over 250 people who say the facility would destroy the countryside and devalue their homes.

‘Topflight’ trials led by NATS, the UK-based air traffic services company,  set to test environmentally ‘perfect’ air travel
The initiative could save up to 1.6 tonnes of CO2 per flight.  The potential to save 30,000kg of fuel across 60 transatlantic flights is to be tested through a trial to see if environmentally ‘perfect’ flights are possible on a large scale.  The trial, which is being backed by the aviation industry in the UK, Canada and the US, is also supported by British Airways, Airbus ProSky and Boeing.
