Gavin Shuker (Luton, Labour): Asked the Secretary of State for Transport how much revenue he expects to receive from the sale of the Government’s remaining share of National Air Traffic Services.
Theresa Villiers (Aviation Minister, Conservative): No decision has yet been made as to whether to sell all, part or none of the Government’s shareholding in NATS. It was announced in the spending review (October 2010) that decisions on how and whether to proceed with a sale will be taken by Budget 2011.
We are currently in discussions with other shareholders over future ownership of NATS. If a decision is made to sell Government shares, the value will depend on the market conditions and decisions of other shareholders. No formal valuations have been prepared and indicative valuations cannot be disclosed on the grounds of commercial sensitivity.
