A new air traffic control tower is to be built at Manchester Airport. The 60-metre tower will be the second highest in the UK.

Tim McDermott, Manchester Airport’s Operations Director, said that work on the new tower will be completed by 2013. The present 40-year-old air traffic control centre on top of the tower block will be reviewed as part of the renovating process. It will have 360-degree panoramic views over the entire airfield.
