The operator of London City Airport has won a High Court decision that will allow it to increase the number of flights at the airport by up to 50%. Local residents were fighting to overturn a 2008 decision by Newham Council to allow the expansion, citing noise and pollution levels in their bid to halt the new flights.
The maximum number of flights permitted at the airport will now increase from 91,000 to 120,000 per year.
