A wind turbine has been successfully installed at Bristol Airport. The vertical axis turbine began harnessing wind power at the beginning of 2011, and is part of a project to trial the use of renewable energy on the airport site in order to reduce emissions.
The turbine is located on the approach road to the terminal building. At 20 metres in height, it is shorter than lighting masts already in place across the airfield, ensuring it does not interfere with radar and airport safety systems.
