For the first time in more than two years British Airways is to raise its fuel surcharge by £10 on its long distance flights. The airline will add the extra £10 from Thursday onwards and depending on the class of travel and distance the total surcharge will vary between £63 and £108.
British Airways has stated that this increase is necessary due to the recent increase in the price of oil. However, short haul flights are exempt from the increases. The last time that BA increased the fuel surcharge was back in June 2008, and has been reduced twice since then.
