4 December 2010
British Airways (BA) reported passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), for November 2010 increased 3.5% primarily attributable to an 11.5% growth in the Asia Pacific region and 8.2% increase in UK/Europe region. The passenger traffic increase for the month comprised a 4.5% increase in premium traffic and a 3.2% growth in non-premium traffic.
Total passenger capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASK), for November 2010 grew 5.1% led by an 18.8% growth in capacity in the Asia Pacific region. Combined with the passenger traffic numbers increase, this resulted in the airline’s total passenger load factor – proportion of available seats filled against the capacity – down 1.2 percentage points to 74.7% from 75.9% in 2009.
