Henry Smith (Conservative, Crawley): Asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans he has for the future taxation of the aviation industry, and if he will make a statement.
Justine Greening (Conservative, Economic Secretary to the Treasury): The Government confirmed at the June 2010 Budget that it would explore possible changes to the aviation tax system, including the option of switching from a per-passenger to a per-plane duty. Any major changes will be subject to public consultation.
