The eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland this spring caused significant disruption in air traffic throughout the United Kingdom and much of Europe. Eyjafjallajokull has now stopped emitting ash, but volcanic activity in Iceland follows a cycle of about 140 years, which last peaked in 1900. Therefore we seem likely to be entering a period of increasing activity in Iceland’s volcanoes, which may cause further disruption. This event from the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) will look at the options and possibilities (operational and technical) to minimise the impact of volcanic ash on aviation. Speakers include the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Meterological (Met) Office, NATS Ltd – airspace management provider, Rolls-Royce and Airbus.
Delegate rates start from £195. Please register on the RAeS site for full details of delegate rates.
