Policy Exchange invites you to a discussion with Bjørn Lomborg on a better alternative to the Climate Change Act.
Bjørn Lomborg is a noted author and thinker on the world’s biggest challenges. He was voted one of the “world’s 100 most influential people” by Time Magazine, and one of “50 people who could save the world” by The Guardian. His most recent book “Cool It” has been turned into a Hollywood movie, which recently opened to rave reviews in the US and Canada, and will be showing in the UK early next year.
Lomborg is also the founder and director of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, a globally respected think tank that brings together the world’s leading economists to prioritize major global problems – among them malaria, the lack of potable water and HIV/AIDS– based upon a cost/benefit analysis of available solutions.
His work on global warming brings this kind of cost-effectiveness thinking to the climate debate. Between the extremes of panic and denial, he advocates a calm, rational approach, focussed on stimulating energy innovation. His call for a $100 billion fund to fight climate change was recently splashed on the front page of The Guardian. Please join us for what promises to be a fascinating discussion with one of one of the world’s most provocative thinkers.
